As I spent a large part of the day "on hold", I began to think about how much of our lives weI spend "on hold". It seems that we are constantly "waiting" for something to happen before we start living. I know that I find myself saying, "when" far too often.
We put our lives on hold and when God calls us to take that step of faith, we put Him on hold. We say, "I will God as soon as...." We let time and money get in our way. Instead of stepping out and following after Him, we hesistate and wait for something to happen.
If we examine the depths of our hearts, we might have to admit that our excuses for living life on hold are just that, excuses. Taking the step of faith scares us. It makes us uncomfortable. We want to know all of the consequences and rewards before we take the step.
The step is big and scary, but our God is faithful and He promises that He has plans to prosper us and not harm us.
When we are obedient to His call, He uses us in an incredible way. Each time we obey, He calls us a little further out of our comfort zone until we learn to lean solely on Him.
We need to take a deep breath and take that step and then the next and soon we will be following Him without hesitation.
